About Gully Gardens

Heritage of this land
We acknowledge the Peramangk people as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which Gully Gardens stands. We recognise their deep connection to this country — its land, waters, skies, and seasons — and pay our respects to Elders past and present.
As caretakers of this orchard and land, we are mindful of the generations who have nurtured this place long before us and we have a strong commitment to land conservation and management.

A Barossa Orchard with Deep Roots
At Gully Gardens, our story is one of heritage, heart, and a deep love for the land. Nestled in the rolling hills of Angaston in the Barossa Valley, our orchard has been producing fresh fruit for over 120 years.
The Gully Gardens Farm Shop began during a time when the local fruit market was facing challenges. Looking for a way to make the most of their harvest, previous custodians Rick and Rosemary Steicke saw an opportunity to do things differently. They began drying and selling their fruit directly to the community — and from those early steps, Gully Gardens was born. What started as a way to add value to their harvest quickly grew into a beloved local business, known for delicious fresh and dried fruit and a warm, country welcome.
Today, it’s in the hands of a new generation committed to preserving that legacy.

Meet Ellie and Owen
We’re Ellie and Owen — and we’re lucky enough to call this beautiful old orchard home. We took on this orchard with a love for good, local food, a respect for tradition, and a desire to keep something special alive.
Neither of us grew up expecting to run a fruit orchard, but life led us here — to a property full of potential, history, and where great food is grown from the the land.
We believe good food is made from the best, seasonal, full-flavoured produce. We are really excited to continue producing fruit from this historic property and trees, and continue the beautiful farm shop created by the Steicke family
Gully Gardens is our home, our work, and a little slice of something we’re proud to share. We can't wait to welcome you to our orchard and farm.

What do we grow and make?
Our orchard produces a variety of stone and pome fruits — apricots, peaches, nectarines, plums, apples and pears — which we harvest in season and dry both the old-fashioned way - in the sun, and using our dehydrator - when the weather is unsuitable.
We also handcraft a range of chocolate-dipped fruits and fruit snacks (a favourite with kids and adults alike), making use of imperfect and surplus produce to reduce food waste.

Our Values
🌱 Sustainability
We operate using solar power and are continually looking at ways to improve our land, biodiversity and soil health. We are a zero food waste business and all of our imperfect fruit has a home. These are turned into our fruit snacks such as our Licorice Lilliput's or Raspberry Blossoms. If not suitable for human consumption, our sheep love the fruit snacks that come their way, or the next step is compost!
🍑 Flavour First
Our focus is always on producing fruit that tastes as good as it looks — juicy, delicious and full of flavour.
👥 Community & Connection
We love welcoming visitors to our farm shop, chatting about the orchard’s history, and sharing our journey through seasonal updates and local events. We are proud to be stallholders at The Barossa Farmers Market, and support other local community organisations.

Growing the Future
While we honour the past, we’re are also exctied to grow and develop our agri-tourism offering and experiences that help people reconnect with the land and where their food comes from.
Whether you're picking up a bag of sun-dried apricots, visiting during harvest season, or joining us for a future farm tour, we’re so glad you’re part of our story.
